Livelink Architecture and Software development Kit
Opentext Livelink:Livelink is one of the major ECM player. Livelink provides a secure repository with powerful search and document management.
Livelink is a complete collaborative environment that revolutionizes the way people work with information and with one another.
Livelink is designed to handle the work of large enterprises, with thousands of people and large amount of data.
Livelink Architecture:Livelink is a web based system having Livelink server, web server, RDBMS as principal architectural components.
Opentext Livelink SDK: Livelink requires no customization to provide immediate benefits to the organization. However, we can tailor livelink to meet specific requirements with livelink SDK, a powerful, object oriented application development environment.
Livelink SDK provides two tools for customizing Livelink.
1. Livelink API (LAPI): Livelink application programmers interface allow developers to develop custom wrapper over Livelink i.e. developing own application using Livelink API’s or to develop custom utilities. We can also integrate with third party application using LAPI.
Livelink API supports Visual Basic, Java, .Net, C, C++ development platform. Development using LAPI is quite easy but requires a good understanding of data type because Livelink data types are derived from Oscript which is Livelink proprietary.
2. Livelink Builder: It is an application development environment for customizing livelink. If we want to change the look and feel of the interface, or if we want to modify or add to the basic functionality, we need to use Livelink Builder. Livelink builder is based on Oscript language, so developer should have a hands on experience to customize livelink using Livelink builder.
I will explain more about using Livelink builder and how Livelink handles a request in my next article.
Please provide your comments, suggestion and scope of improvement on this article.
